I created these voice to impress packs to help my preschooler go set up to read. While he knows all his messages and sounds, he needs a little work on concepts of impress before he'south set to begin learning to read.
When we did our outset Voice to Impress Pack, he really struggled. But now that we've done a few more sets, he's doing very well.
If yous've seen my other sets (observe links at the bottom of this post), you know that each Voice to Print Pack comes with a total of xl cards. You'll find ten different images, each on a set of four cards.
In this pack, each of the sets begins with the name of a spring beast or object.
The 2d card adds the word "the," which is now a word that my 4 loves to find everywhere… in books, on signs, and even in the paper.
The third card adds the discussion "yellow."
The last bill of fare of each set adds "Wait at." The challenge of the last card is for your kid to say every word while not losing his place. Encourage your child to signal to the dots equally he "reads." This volition ensure that he is focusing on letters and words and not simply reciting the pattern.
Another benefit to this activity is that it builds vocabulary. Fifty-fifty though I read to him a lot, my Four has always had a harder time remembering vocabulary than his older siblings. When we got to this carte du jour he didn't know what the beast was.
"Information technology's a baby chicken," I told him. "Exercise you know what that's called?"
"No…. A chickling?"
It'south peachy to give kids exercise with 3-syllable words, too. They need to understand that even though a discussion (such as umbrella) may exist long, it's all the same just one word.
When we read this one I asked my 4, "How did y'all know that said bee? How come it doesn't say blossom?"
"Because! It starts with a b. Bloom starts with an f."
This one really threw him for a loop. He just couldn't get rain boots. He thought it was "h2o boots," and he became frustrated as he tried to remember that it was two separate words.
All in all, though, he enjoys these – and I dearest what they are doing for him as a pre-reader!
How to get together the printable
- Print the pages on cardstock (I purchase this kind)
- Laminate (this is our favorite home laminator!)
- Cut apart on the solid black lines.
- Bind the cards with a metallic ring.
